Can take some sun in coastal regions. The fronds may burn in frosty conditions. Needs regular watering. The trunk can also be watered, but avoid watering the crown which will cause rot.

Description:

This cold hardy fern has a red/brown fuzzy trunk. The fuzz hardens with age so that the base of the trunk has a hard exterior while the top and the crown are still soft. The feathery bright green fronds grow outwards from the crown. The fronds are comprised of many alternate leaflets.
