Will grow to be a large tree. The flowers can stain concrete when they drop, so best planted away from driveways and walkways. The fallen blooms look very pretty in a lawn setting.


This is a sub-tropical tree native to south-central South America. The spectacular bright blue-purple fragrant flowers appear in spring and early summer. They are followed by a brown oval seed capsule. Because of their beauty when in full bloom they are now grown in most warm climates throughout the world.
