SEQUOIA SEMPERVIRENS
Recommended Placement:

Will grow in sunny locations, but also naturally grows in valleys and mountains with coastal air influences where moisture levels are high.

Description:

Native to the south west coast of North America extending from Oregon to Monterey in California. Sequoia sempervirens is a long lived evergreen with fibrous red/brown bark which is resistant to fire and invasive pests. The dark green leaves have a wonderful 'Christmas Tree' scent. New leaves are bright lime green. Sequoias are monoecious (both male and female seeds on each tree). They can reproduce by seed or from shoots sprouting from the tree base. Even fallen branches or whole trees can produce shoots along their trunks.
